For those of you who may have caught the Metropolitan Opera production of Handel's "Giulio Cesare" this week, you might have noticed the superb continuo section that included, among others, James Daniel Swenberg featured on theorbo, lute & baroque guitar. I hope that the efforts of orchestras to add plucked instruments to the continuo stays its course; it's an excellent addition to the overall color and tone of the Baroque sound. In fact, I now can’t imagine this particular piece performed without the plucked instruments. Cool beans!
